Kindrogan 2015, February
Just back from a great stargazing weekend with Astronomical Society of Glasgow at Kindrogan Field Study Centre.
I saw comet C/2014 Q2 (Lovejoy) at last, through my binoculars at Kindrogan Field Studies Centre, but I didn’t get any fabulous photos like Alastair Clyne‘s or Colin Robb‘s – check them out. The green dot in Alastair’s is Lovejoy. And the green glow over the northern horizon is Aurora Borealis !
Great images, and something to aspire to. I don’t imagine I’ll ever manage anything quite like that. We struggled mightily with Jupiter and my webcam, attempting to achieve something like Colin’s Jupiter and Io but failed fairly miserably – in fact I did much better from my garden in Cathcart earlier this month. But I did have a great time – just now I’ll stick to daytime snapshots:
And one my partner took earlier, when she joined a course at Kindrogan in 1968!
